The Purge: 6/10. Caught an advanced screening of this last night. I came in with somewhat low expectations since the premise is pretty absurd, and I figured the film would be catering to the lowest common denominator (jump scares, needlessly long action scenes, etc.) I was right, but it was still a decent thriller. Constantly entertaining, at least, but it would have overstayed its welcome if it were any longer than its 90 minute run time. Some really interesting themes set it aside from the generic thriller it began to slip into in the final act, but they sort of got lost in the mix with all the bloody action; was hard to decipher exactly what the film's message was. Worth watching, but I'm glad I saw it for free.

Mifunes Last Song - Superb, start to finish!!! A film about facing up to your past and a love story that will charm yr pants off. Excellent acting and direction. Totally different from the previous Dogme films. The bonus film of the directors experience of US Film festivals is pretty funny too! 9/10

Django Unchained. Recommend. Better than I feared it would be. Beautiful composition after beautiful composition. He says he's responsible for all of those himself in his films. Impressive work. I don't think I cared much for Spoiler: his cameo. But maybe it's right for a Tarantino film. Maybe he wants it to be his calling card. Oh fine.

Silver Linings Playbook. Recommend.

That Guy...Who Was in That Thing. Recommend. Eye-opening for me.

The Iceman - Not quite sure how you can take the true story of a real life hitman with 100+ hits and turn it into a film as depressingly dull and slow as this. Michael Shannon plays his role with a fine range of one dimensional grunts and nods it was almost like watching Bales Batman, not quite as dull but getting there!!! Thank God for Winona Rider who steals every scene and still looks a bonefide A list hottie!! 6

The Fountain

Interesting movie altough a bit slow sometimes. 3/5
I've been wanting to see The Fountain for quite some time as I'm a huge fan of Darren Arnofsky. Are you familiar with his other works like Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream?

I have to say that Darren Arnofsky makes great movies. I do like the Wrestler, Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream, all of them has been good. Actually the Fountain included I have not seen a bad movie from Mr. Arnofsky.

Wrestler is my favourite, if I have to pick one.

Oh yes, I did now watch:

12 Rounds
4/5 Yes I know, an action movie, how I can like this. Well it is well made action movie.

Born American
3/5 If only Chuck Norris would be the star in this, not his son Mike. Still nice action again from Renny Harlin. Made in Finland and banned in Finland untill published 2006. Banned because former Soviet Union was not happy about the movie because it gave a bad image about the country. Quite old school and forgotten action movie.

Capricon One
3/5 Interesting movie about flight to the planet Mars and conspiracy around it.

Atlantic City
5/5 Maybe I am a bit too eager to praise this movie, but it was a really well made and interesting story and it does have a great dialogue.

If you are wondering why I watch these kind of movies, well I can borrow them from local library, free

Hi-5!
Love free films from the library!

The Sessions - 9/10
I'm a die hard action/scifi junkie and don't do drama very well - but this story is fairly well told.
While Kill List was beautifully shot, the camera work in 'The Sessions' was so subtle I found myself more attracted to the story than the mechanics of it's telling.
There's a few niggling "issues" story wise to quibble over, but definitely a "should see" film.

Texas Chainsaw - 6/10
Much like its prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, this was a genre-typically constructed slasher film entirely dependent upon an impossibly attractive lead (Alexandra Daddario) to carry any extended interest beyond the generally stupid story.
H3ll. That striped shirt was a more interesting character than the antagonist.
