At one time there were only two places that processed Kodachrome. A lab in Switzerland and Dwayne's in Kansas. The Swiss lab shut down a while ago so Dwayne's is the only place left:

Yes, very quiet. I paid $1,200 for the entire outfit with two magazines, battery and charger. On eBay I found an extra set of internal filter holders and a remote cable.
I'm going to be taking this site down since I want to sell the camera. I would really rather have a 35mm Mitchell but for the time being I got enough professional gear as it is with my Rex5, 16mm Mitchell and CP-16. And I don't have the room to maintain a collection as I would rather have...
I once purchased a used mannequin at a flea market. You could buy or rent used ones from this place:

In fact you may want to look at their line of flexible foam mannnequins. Scroll down to the bottom of the main page.
One source of manuals for Super 8 cameras was Filmshooting.com. They used to have manuals available for download until their server went down a while back and now they're trying to rebuild. The manuals were contributed by their members so you could ask in their forum if someone has one for...
I traded the Bolex H8-DS8 some time ago when I couldn't get DS8 filmstock anymore. I still have two Bolex H8 regular 8mm cameras. You can still get regular 8mm filmstock including in the newer Ektachrome 100D. I last shot some regular 8mm color at a Japan fest in Houston last year. Used a...
Heh, I started at the real bottom with Regular 8mm. ;)
Eventually going to Super 8mm and then 16mm. My favorite Super 8mm cameras were the Canon 614 and the Elmo 1012S-XL. I also used an Argus Cosina which was a real workhorse of a camera. Right now I got a jewel of a camera in the Elmo...
But not all Super 8mm cameras will expose it properly using the built-in meter. Check out this webpage:

If you have a handheld meter and manual exposure control you shouldn't have any problems.
That's what I get on my Dish Network, Channel 13 in HD. Funny thing is when I have the same channel on my satellite and on my regular set in another room there is a delay from one set to the other. The satellite signal is almost half a minute behind.
HD Video is all the rage now and what with broadcast television converting to HD next year there will be a demand for more Super 16 productions. The Bolex I want converted is my Rex5 setup for animation.
No, it's not the same camera. I got mine from an owner in Virginia. And this one is super quiet. It had been serviced before I got it. In fact when I ran it with test film in my living room I had to open the camera door to make sure it was running. I do want to see about having this one...
The cost for converting one to Super 16 would run from $1,000 to $2,000. I know of two places that do them, Visual Products and Whitehouse. You might want to ask then if they know of any CP-16s for sale.
Thanks, I'm in the process of setting up a website which will show my collection of cameras for live action animation. In fact I'm close to acquiring a Mitchell.
Update: I have removed the old links that no longer work.
Actually I'm working to get into the animation industry. Most of my connections are with animators and artists. The majority of my gear is setup for stop motion animation. I have thought about making a sci-fi film ala Harryhausen where I mix live action with a stop motion monster using back...
You're lucky there, though still even if you are not on the property they may not like anyone filming their plant even from a distance. So having inside connections is useful.
I hope I'm not too late to provide my advice. Not wanting to contradict directorik but the most common camera for news filming was the CP-16. This is a quiet 16mm camera that shot single system sound on magnetic striped film. So much of the on scene sound footage seen on television news was...
I'm on the Texas Gulf Coast south of Houston as well. Got to be careful filming around the refineries since they increased security. They won't even allow cel phones with cameras on their properties.
