[FEEDBACK] "KAILE" (Short/ Thriller, 6 Pages)

Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. I intentionally write with those questions unanswered because it, in my mind, leaves the audience wanting more. I like to write short scripts that feel a lot bigger, so it can be developed into feature length - like a window into a specific moment in...

[FEEDBACK] "KAILE" (Short/ Thriller, 6 Pages)

Logline: A nomad couple with the unexplainable gift of teleportation are searching for truth, as their being hunted by his older brother. Hello, just looking for some feedback please. It's a second draft, so anything that could develop the dialogue or plot would be helpful. Thanks...

How do distributors send digital films to cinemas?

Sorry, didn't mean to come across as hostile! But thanks.

How do distributors send digital films to cinemas?

Well the whole point of a thesis is to create a discussion about an issue, and to citate academic resources to reinforce your argument. It's not stealing academic research when its citated. Anyway, thanks! I found a really interesting publication about location-based encryption technique that's...

How do distributors send digital films to cinemas?

Hey guys, I'm doing a thesis on digital distribution. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas of how a distribution company sends their (digital) feature film to cinemas to be projected? Is it via a secure network? Also, if anyone has a citation or academic source, please let me know! Thanks

    Replicating film on digital

Hey guys, I'm doing a dissertation on digital technology. Not original - I know! Anyway I know there's a trend amongst cinematographers and manufacturers alike to mimic filmic qualities when capturing on digital sensors. Does anyone know of any academic resources that reinforce this idea...

    Kickstarter - Absolution

Hey, I’m an undergraduate film student at Birmingham City University. Grouping with a team of talented filmmakers in my course, we’re attempting to produce an ambitious graduation film in 2014; one that will benchmark our talents in the film industry through demonstrating high production...

    Absolution Short Film

Hey guys, We're a bunch of very talented filmmakers at Birmingham City University, and we're producing a really ambitious short film that we hope will blow the doors off the expectations of what students can make, and hopefully make a dent in film festivals. It's a story that questions rules...

    Trying to achieve this look

Never say never. Rule number one. I hate it when people say that something can't be done. Just because we're low budget, it doesn't mean our resources are limited. I think the best bet is for us to do day for night. We have a really good VFX artist that can grade it for night time, and just...

    Trying to achieve this look

Hey guys, We're attempting a night shoot, and we've got this idea in mind for the look of the film. That being said, there are a load of difficulties trying to achieve this shot, purely because of time restraints, and the fact that we'd never be able to get this amount of detail at night...

What do you call this type of lighting?

Video 1 and 3 are indeed high key, so I don't know where you're getting your information from. I wouldn't say video 2 is, however. That's more motivated lighting, mixed with some practicals and one terrible green screen in the background. Hahaha.

Creating the illusion of more people.

Hope this helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKl2Qo3fwhI (skip to 2.22 to avoid mac bashing) If you can take the end frame of a shot, replicate it and and put a load of people in, you can cut them out and composite them in the original shot to make the scene look more lively...if that makes...

    Short script advice

Thanks for the advice. It's not that i'm ignorantly defending as such, but I assumed I'd addressed the basic scientific principles to make this believable, but I guess not! But yeh, I'm trying to focus on the narrative and character development rather than scientific plausibility. And judging...

    Short script advice

I disagree. When you climb a hill, there's less oxygen. So why is it so hard to believe that there's less/no oxygen? They don't need suits, all you need is an oxygen mask to survive outdoors. I didn't mention suits? Plants don't require oxygen. They require Carbon Dioxide, which then produces...

    Short script advice

I'm not expecting it to be futuristic, so to speak. We're talking perhaps 10-15 years in the future. Earth just looks like Earth, but abandoned and desolate. Old Earth would be more bustling as opposed to abandoned. So I'm not expecting green screens or huge variations of CGI, think more like...

What the hell is wrong with me !

I'd love to be able to do many things: be an F1 driver, be a pilot, be a filmmaker, etc. But the difference between love and passion is that passion is the drive to go beyond what is necessary to do it. But I have to agree to some extent. I hate writing scripts, I'm not a writer. And we live...

    Short script advice

Hey guys, I'm currently writing a short script, and I'm wondering what your opinion is on it. The synopsis is as follows: The story itself follows David, a young survivor who lost his parent during an outbreak against controversial science. Confined within his small apartment, his...

    Short Film that I made

Impressive stuff. Only thing I would criticise is the inconsistent lighting fixtures within the scene. It looks strange when you cut from a CU to a LS and the talent changes in exposure. General rule of thumb is to light for the scene, not the shots. Also out of curiosity, what dolly did you use?
