    Do feature-film scripts get critiqued?

Thanks a lot, all. :) I'm trying to figure out why so many movies have such obvious issues, that everyone in the audience can easily spot. The example I always have in mind is any movie where a monster is chasing someone, then traps them, and, instead of killing them, roars in victory for like...

    Do feature-film scripts get critiqued?

Hi, all. :) Is it a common practice for the screenplays of high-budget feature films to be edited by anyone other than the people way on top? For example, is there a process of having people pick apart line-by-line issues, with a red pen, and/or running a screenplay by a group of random...

Tiny reflexion box for lav mic?

Oh, I see. Btw, it's mostly just the noise from my computer I'm trying to get around, not the bouncing sound. (I don't want to have to do noise-reduction on EVERY recording.) Btw, hmm, I thought most mic varieties had roughly the same recording mechanism. (?) For instance, aren't shotgun mics...

    Tiny phantom power?

Thanks. :) I remember what happened, now: I bumped into these a while back, but noticed they all took XLR cables (I use 3.5mm and 2.5mm jacks). I would need two XLR adapters, making me have to add 3 more items just to my mic wire. I'd have: - Mic wire - Extension wire/converter - XLR Adapter -...

    Tiny phantom power?

Hi, all. :) I have a lavalier mic (tiny clipon), but my Lumix GH1 doesn't provide enough power to it. Is there a tiny phantom power unit that will power the lav? I picture it shaped like this below, probably taking a single battery. I haven't been able to find one.

Tiny reflexion box for lav mic?

Update: Forget cut-open tennis balls. As feared, they have a sea-shell-against-your-ear effect, and enhance muffle.

Tiny reflexion box for lav mic?

Hi, all. :) I'm looking to build a mic reflexion box, so that my mic doesn't pick up my computer hum (recording voice stuff in my room)... but, since I'm using a tiny, tiny lav mic, does anyone know if you can skip the box part, and just use an extremely small foam cube/pyramid, or something...

(audio) Rode Micon connector for a D-SLR?

Ah, thanks. $1 adapters on Amazon. I wish the Micons weren't $20. Does anyone know of a cheap Micon equivalent? Something that accepts the tiny screw-on head you see at the end of the wire here: http://www.pinknoise-systems.co.uk/images/pinmic1.jpg

(audio) Rode Micon connector for a D-SLR?

Quick version of my question: Mic plug too fat. What's the smaller one called?

(audio) Rode Micon connector for a D-SLR?

Hi, all. :) I got a Rode Micon 2 adapter for my Rode Pinmic, and the adapter is too fat for my camera (Lumix GH1): Adapter: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/730906-REG/Rode_MICON_2_MiCon_2_Adapter.html GH1: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicdmcgh1/page2.asp Pin Mic...

    Batteries for field shoots?

Ah, thanks. This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping existed. Yeah, I missed that. I'm so used to other forums, I automatically just pull down the search menu, snag the first search box I see, and assume I'm good to go. :)

    Batteries for field shoots?

Oh, I see. Any idea how long a car battery lasts with a powerful floodlight? Naturally, each one is different, but are we usually talking about like half an hour, an hour, a whole night? Right now, I'm trying to figure out, also, if there are any good lead acid battery packs, or anything like...

    Is Avid good?

Thanks for the answers, all. :)

    Is Avid good?

Hmm, I just ran into this. They certainly don't rate it POORLY. (btw, it's easier to find reviews now that I know it's called "Avid Media Composer" and not just "Avid".)

    Is Avid good?

I once heard a film student say that everyone in his class HATED Avid, and that the only reason it was used was because it was heavily entrenched in the industry, and big movie studios had expensive Avid equipment that they didn't want to throw away... Does that make any sense? I never trusted...

    Batteries for field shoots?

Hi, all. :) What kinds of power-sources do you use for field shoots, aside from gas-powered genies, etc? (the forum search only seems to search for blog posts, so I couldn't find anything on this) I'm trying to figure out if there's some kind of smaller, quiet battery that can be used to power...

    An all-purpose mic?

Hi, all. First post. :) Does anyone know of a good mic (preferably no more than $200) that can be used on your computer, for voice-over work, AND hooked to a boom pole or camera, for use in the field? It would be nice if there was such a thing that could go into some kind of mic stand (like...
