Something's not quite right here (drone footage)

Checked it out, there are a few problems. First the motion is too linear. It lacks the "floating" feel of drone/aerial footage. There is a bit too much shake/rotation in the video. I'd play with the stabilization options to try for a little smoother video. The color is too yellow. I'd either...

    Need to get big files

Either a flash drive like Zensteve said, or you could use dropbox. You will only be able to transfer around 2 gig at a time. First He puts about 2 gig of files in the box, shares them with you. You download and remove from box. When he sees it is empty (or you email him) he puts in another 2 gig...

watch D4Darious (tips for filmmakers) crying tips

Fun video. You should pick up what is known as a tear stick. It is a wax stick in a lipstick mechanism, that contains menthol and camphor. You rub it under the eyes, on the orbital bone, and it causes you to produce real tears. These range from $5-10 including shipping. The more expensive, but...

Child of Earth; Help on Practical Effect

To do it in camera only, you might want to try using forced perspective. Start with the person balled up, then as they move closer with each time lapse shot they can "grow" until they are full size and reaching up to the sky. With forced perspective the trick is to place the smaller object...

    Editing two parallel scenes

Try doing a few variants to see what you think plays best. From what you described I would inner cut the scenes. Show some of Scene B, then Scene A, then back to B as the shots are heard. Again when in doubt do several different edits and see how it plays. Good luck with the edit.

    Tony Gilroy's Top Tips

Saw this article over on the BBC where Tony Gilroy (The Devil's Advocate, Armageddon, etc.) shares his top 10 tips for writing a Hollywood blockbuster: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-24348113 I'm not going to reprint the article(follow the link above to read more), but his list...

    watch Reconnoiter - Teaser Trailer

Overall good job. It looks interesting. The effects were not bad. Could have done a little better job on matching the lighting with the effects. The ship/pod thing looked like it could have used a little motion blur in the camera and the texture grundged up a little more. The light also didn't...

    Production Diary: Penguins

Not much to update. Still getting over a cold, not got much done. Still scripting and story-boarding the Halloween installment and looking for a local musician. But here is a picture of a penguin dressed as a candy corn, taking a baby penguin who is dressed as a witch trick-o-treating for...

tv A Tv Network Just For Indie Film Maker

As a subscriber I would not want to pay $5-7 a month for indie content and see ads. As a creator I think $400 is way too high. As a person with a minor in math and expereince in marketing, I find your numbers a sham. I don't see you getting the same CPM as Hulu, but let's assume you do. So...

PP/AE editing workflow for music video

Use Pro Res for your codec, choose the setting that works best for your system. I don't know your level of expertise so it is hard to judge how much detail to give (plus I know I'll forget a step that I would just do if in the midst of a project) so I apologize in advance. I would tackle the 4k...

I want to be a filmmaker... But I have no friends!

You could look to see if there are any filmmaker groups near you (facebook and google should reveal that). You could start a thread seeing if anyone on here is in your area. OR you could try your hand at animation, stop motion, or even just doing it all yourself.
