I might have a job on another feature film, but...

They want me to send in my resume, but my job history has nothing to do with the film or entertainment business. Should I just put down the 3 projects of other people's that I have worked on before, or only actual payed jobs even though they are not related? I want and hope to make a real good impression of course!

Well I really want to make a good impression and it seems people in the business can get turned off from the slightest thing.

Plus even if I did put down the movie, those people I worked for, haven't finished their movies yet, so I wonder will that look bad, if I cannot show them anything, video wise.

I'm no expert on film resumes but i would say don't but non film related jobs on there.

List the films you have worked on, your roles and perhaps their completion date with obviously their director/producer or person you worked under as a possible point of contact.

I'm about to work on another short film of which even this one has not asked for relevant experience and I am doing a more specific role. The reason for this is word of mouth and connections revolving around GOOD RELATIONSHIPS on previous sets. On my third film somebody asked if I had worked on a specific film (which was the first I did) and the dude said that the director had said a lot of positive things about me. The last 2 films I've done and the one I'm about to do have literally all revolved around people I met on the first film, the director, producer and 1st AD.

I know that isn't exactly relevant to your resume, but it's something to think about

Okay thanks. I want to get the resume in real soon, since they are probably wondering what is taking a while but I want to make it good as well. So far I have done only one completed thing though, and that is the TV pilot episode I helped record which aired on TV a few months later. I have done other episodes for the same person, and I have acted in a feature for another. But that's all I have done so far. The feature has no release date so far, and their is problems with it, and I was told by the director, it may be un-finishable. Some scenes did not get shot before winter, outdoors and will have to wait till next year as well.

So that one is pending. Should I put those two contacts down, or should I not if the movie has no release date, and may not see the light of day unfortunately?

Okay. If I don't put my other jobs that are not related to movies on my resume, it would just be those two things though. Should I just put those and that's it? It would just be like a half a page resume then.

YES Your resume should list your relevant experience..

Whether you got paid or not it goes on your resumé - it's experience. You don't mention if you got paid or not. (Example - one of my early for-free shorts got into Sundance; looked really good on my resumé.)

However...

If you are applying for an acting job, put down your acting experience. If you are applying for a production job, put down your production experience. If you are applying for a post job, put down your post experience.

When you get to the face-to-face interview you can relate the other things you have done, but don't stress them; you want the (whichever) job for which you are applying.

Oh, yeah... Don't put down gigs that didn't go well as far as relationships are concerned.

Once again, use your common sense and post the relevant experience.

For instance, I was an Event Manager for over a decade. It has relevance when I'm applying to be an AD, Producer or PM as there are a lot of overlaps in duties, but doesn't have much relevance to Editing. Use your common sense (assuming that's a skill listed on your resume).

Yes I will put my experience, of course. But what I meant was, should I put down my other past jobs, like working construction, customer service, etc. That's what I meant when I said should I list jobs that are unrelated to filmmaking.

Sweetie has already answered that. Re-read his answer.

Your resume should list your relevant experience.

When I am applying for a software development position, I do not put down that I waited tables in high school.
