What films do you think have the best camera work?

I'm talking about camera angles and shot setups. What film(s) do you think have the best camera work? Why?

I love Yasujiro Ozu's compositions. Look at his use of graphic match in his classic period from 1949-1962. I love his use of colors, that red kettle from Equinox Flower is just brilliant.

He was also brilliant not just because of his distinctive compositions in terms of camerawork but more with the way he arranged different objects on the set. He also captured space and depth very well using several techniques.

I think John Ford has produced several gorgeous images of the Old West.

I absolutely adore Wong Kar-Wai's aesthetic every time, especially in In The Mood For Love with those amazing slow moving camera shots. Happy Together also had really beautiful images.

There are tons of filmmakers I can mention but I don't want to make this post too long so I'll just mention one more.

Agnes Varda is one of those great visual artists in film, her background in photography may have helped with that a lot. Even in her first feature film there is stunning cinematography. Her second feature film (widely considered to be her masterpiece) is even better though! In that film she really uses the moving camera well, elevating what is essentially a 'walk and talk' film (an artistic one but nevertheless a 'walk and talk' kinda movie) into a masterpiece of cinematography.
