Night shoot would probably be the most challenging. So I like that. Some folks could learn a lot by doing that challenge, for sure.

But I voted for 3 long takes because I think it requires more creativity along with the technical obstacle, vs just the technical obstacle.

Night shoot...I could film myself at work.:) I have an interesting idea I might do for the cityscape even if it doesn't win.:P

Should the "Night Shoot" take place in an exterior location or just be set at night? I'm guessing that's what was meant by "Day for Night" yeah? Just wanted to clarify. Thanks : )

@flicker pictures,
There are no real rules, the participants challenge themselves to what ever level they see fit.

Shooting day for night is a technique where you "pretend" that its nighttime but your really shooting in the daylight. Its a mix of in camera and post tricks to pull off the illusion well.

You can shoot "day for night" indoors, but it might be pointless... if you can control the lighting indoors then just turn off the lights, boom instant night!

I will give the Day/Night my best shot-it may not be QUITE what is being looked for-but it's more a personal challenge, so I'll just roll with it :)

I voted for Cityscape because I've wanted to do a timelapse sort of thing for a while now...

But it looks like 'night scene' is going to run away with it. Probably good as people (myself included) shy away from shooting at night because it's tricky. If I'm not too busy with my short this month then I'll give this one a go...

you could always do a night time cityscape with timelapse... which is what i was thinking about doing...

or the sky at night as the sun fades it out

but do multiple different ones so that its like 3 different shots done on different days but edited to look like the same end of the night

It's good to see you posting. I didn't know if the tsunami affected your area.

...Id give you 32 points for that!

You should find some sponsors for this challenge to see if you can get cool stuff for the contestants, but use a point based system with 3 pts for first, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd, then use the accumulated points at the end of a year to award the winner - you should talk to IT for the feasibility of it (it is his board afterall ;) ).

yeah its been a long ass day... i didnt know what we were going to be doing because they first told us 3-5 meter tsunami around 4 oclock this afternoon...

which is like 9 to 15 feet... hahahahah that would have me working for days on end... seriously... we would have to be at work for the next 3 months trying to figure out how to piece together a 60 foot dish hahahahahahahhaahhhahahahahahah damn humpty dumpty wouldnt have shit on me hahahahhahahahahahaha

but then at 530 they told us it would be no more than 2 meters...

then it showed up around 620... or so... and was more like a half meter... so i guess thats not bad... just some pressure testing on the see walls hahahahahah

thanks for the concern though...

i am happy its over... only got 3 hours of sleep this after noon ( i work mids) so im exhausted and at work...

and as long as the plates we are next to dont shift next ... we are fine
