Video contest some of you might be interested in

It has been awhile since i have posted on here! A lot of you showed support for my channel back in the day. I finally landed a job as a video producer. My company is throwing a contest that is giving away 6 RED Scarlets. That is a $17,000 camera for people that do not know. It will be starting next week and you will have multiple chances to win.It will consist of 3 weekly challenges. There will be 2 winners each week. Hopefully I see some of you enter this! If any of you have questions just let me know!

Dude, that sucks :(

Mhmm it really does. I guess I should be used to it by now, but there are so many things that America makes exclusive to themselves (or to Canada) and forgets all other countries, that it gets frustrating.

Weird thing: The Hobbit Part 2 literally the whole world gets it on December 12/13. We and like two other countries get it the 26th -_-

Weirder still, the Doritos Crash the Superbowl is ACTUALLY INTERNATIONAL. For a sport that the rest of the countries cares nothing about they actually made the competition open to the world.

Strange world we live in

It goes the other way sometimes. I couldn't wait for the movie "The World's End" and when I saw it had a release date in July I got really excited... came to find out it wouldn't be released in America until August.

See, although Doritos is perhaps a bigger corporation than say Freddie Wong, there are other large corporations that limit their large competitions (that are generally advertised on international sites like YouTube - or even use YouTube as a submission platform) to US residents.

I understand there's a lot more legal red tape, but if Doritos can do it (and a handful of others), it can't be as bad as everyone makes out..

Maybe for a little guy like Freddie Wong (though I feel like he's making a packet out of his YT stuff), but for bigger companies..

Damn. Well, if any USIT'ers want an international second unit, or some scoring/foley/sound design, gimme a shout.

Hmm.. with a sound guy on my side I might just feel confident enough to attempt an entry

**EDIT**

Dammit:

PowerA
and MOGA Contest (the “Contest”) is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States
(including the District of Columbia, but excluding any territories or possessions of the United States)
who are at least eighteen (18) years old (or the legal age of majority in their state of residence) at the time of entering the Contest.

I can act out an American accent...

Thanks A.D. :)

You're welcome chaps. I've not got much on at the mo, so assuming they're only short shorts, I'd be happy to take some fun projects on if anyone needs a lackey.

I've got decent sample resources, and can program/rec too of course. I do love more trad scoring, but mainly specialise in later 20th C popular and alt musics, if that helps anyone?

(Oh, can do VA/foley/sound design stuff etc too)

I'm only just getting into vid prod though, so dont ask for anything in that department! As an artist and photog I can pull my weight with input on the visuals like photog/cinimatog/lighting/art directon, but for the post/software/editing side of it I'm a bit noobish and best kept well away from any buttons, lest I lean on the one labelled 'suck' and accidentally turn it up to 11.

Aaand, the fact that the comp is only open to US residents means I might get someone booted out just by providing them with a few mins of audio.... :(

You will be fine helping out as long as the person that we are shipping the camera or prize is located in the US:) There is a lot of legal reasons why its only eligible in the US:(

I Wouldn't mind hearing what these reasons are, considering I've never really bothered to find out in the past?
