watch VFX Short Film "DEMON"

Pretty cool.

Why'd you go with 2.33:1?

Most of the effects are pretty convincing.

That music sounds awful familiar. In all honesty, I don't give a damn about copyright infringment in an instance like this. You're not really stealing from anybody, cuz you're not even going to try to make money off this video. The real problem, in my opinion, is that it takes your audience out of the moment. Instead of focusing on what they're watching, they're reminded of that really crazy scene in that other movie when that zombie poked his wife's eyes out. Better to get something less recognizeable.

thanks to both of you i choose that song because i've never heard it before but next time i'll use something less recognizable for general audience thanks man :)

I liked your video, especially the demon wings and sparks that flashed in. Looks like some good use of Andrew Kramer tutorials.

I don't think they meant "less recognizable;" they meant original - as in have a musician friend score it. Crackerfunk is correct, the song you used is by John Murphy, "In The House In A Heartbeat," from 28 DAYS LATER and in the Robert Carlyle running scene in 28 WEEKS LATER. It goes with almost anything and It's used in a lot of things like:

PANIC ATTACK! (ATTAQUE DE PANICO!)

WOW i didn't remember that on kick ass, and i loved that movie, i didn't knew that song was soo used before, i'll keep that in time next time when it comes to sonorization

and thanks a lot for the comment :D

Good job.

The colouring was a little stark for my liking, especially given that it was taking place in the day, and a sunny one at that. (The heavy blues and dulled contrasts benefit from night exterior/interior or an overcast day) I'm fully aware of the whole "Action look", but for me, it was quite distracting.

However, i enjoyed the effects. Once again, good job, and welcome to the boards!

you are probably right about about the color thanks for the observation, and i'm glad you've enjoyed it

Thanks!

Hey, not bad. Like others have said the grading was over the top as its so bright and your influence feels basically like Andrew Kramer tutorials = a short. This is fine, we have all done it. You also did some nice effects with the angel wings, particles etc keep it in that direction and move away from soul sucking tutorials. For people like me who have seen it a million times all over youtube it discredits the rest of the good work before it. Try making story followed by VFX as alot of people who are keen about VFX regularly forget that VFX are there for the story not the other way around.

Damn... That was pretty boss. Only thing I'd add, is you might want to turn down those sound effects... they were definitely too dominating. (IMO)
Other than that, great stuff.

Thanks a lot for the comments guys on my next short clip i'll try to follow all your advice, also if any of you would like to give me ideas to my next short clip i'm totally open
