Trying to choose an action sports camera

Hey guys, I need camera advice. I am in the market for (2) HD cameras for a new project. I have a small budget,$3k-$6k per camera. Primary use for outdoor, motorcross, skateboarding etc. My needs are: built in image stabalizer, (2) memory slots, at least 10x zoom, 1080/60i, flexibility as far as using as hand held or using with steady cam or tripod.

Here are some of the camera i was thinking about:D
Sony HXR-NX5U
Sony HDR-AX2000
JVC GY Series

Have any of you guys had prior use with any of these? Any recomendations? Any advice?

Hi reed - For action, the interlacing and low 1080 frame rates of the AX2000 and NX5U disqualify these cameras for your needs. I would especially stay away from the 60i AX2000.

You want 60p - here is why: http://www.axis.com/products/video/camera/progressive_scan.htm (see the pictures at the bottom of the page)

The best value-for-money 1080/60p camera at your price point is the new $1938 Panasonic AG-AC90. It has 5-axis optical image stabilization, 2 SD card slots, a 12x zoom, 1080/60p, and a small form factor.

Here is what it can do: https://vimeo.com/54060066

And have you thought about a $400 GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition as a crash cam? Incredibly high resolution from a helmet or handlebar mounted camera. Here is what it can do: https://vimeo.com/51618708

Hope this is helpful,

Bill
