Tips for filming on a Panasonic GH2?

Hi I've got my new GH2 camera so I did a bit of a screen test with it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck6GNk14ajA
I am using cinema 1080 24p mode. No extra lighting just from the light bulb.
Can you give any tips? I notice the screen goes darker when I zoom in. Is this because there isn't enough light in the scene?
Also I notice that the movement is a bit more blurry than I expected. Are there any tips to reduce this? I assume that we want a bit of blur to make it look "cinematic" at the 24p rate. But it just looks like too much!
The reds are a bit shimmery but I suppose I should expect that due to compression.
Any other tips?
(I won't be filming puppets eventually but real people but they will have less patience!)

OK. Thanks for that. I've been reading all about it.

I think because I had it on auto mode it is setting the shutter speed to slow to let more light in.

So I can either set the shutter speed manually or light the scene more to get rid of the blurring.

I think it's more important to prevent blurring than depth of field so that I should have it on the S (Shutter Priority) mode and set shutter speed to 50.

That sound about right?

I don't like of any auto mode. For shooting videos, I recommend you to use the Creative Movie Mode and set all attributes manually. And set the "exposure mode" to manual or the camera will make it automatically too.

I think I'll leave the hacks until I know a bit more. But eventually they seem like a good idea to get better video. And sound I'll probably do with another device. Although I've heard you can't play some of the clips back on the camera if you use hacks.

Another question: The handshake reducing function.... on or off?

Hi I've done another screen test on my GH2:

The details of what I used are in the description. As you can see the colours aren't exactly great but I'm still learning. I didn't try to correct them either.

Any advice welcome!

Getting better :)
Are you using the stock lens?

An advice: with GH2, you can use 1/40 shutter speed. I don't know why, just saw people saying that, and today I tested and it works very very beautiful. And with 1/40, you get more light into the sensor. Would be really better, for example, in this footage you made at night.

And try some hacks. :woohoo:

Here is a test I made yesterday, testing settings for the film I'll shoot next month.

I'm using 1/40 shutter speed. I don't know why, in the last take the motion blur is problematic. The original footage don't show this problem. I'm trying to understand what's wrong with the render. But, in general, you can see a good result with GH2 - and in low light, which is always a challenge.

Edit: how to post youtube thumbnail here?

That looked very nice. What dolly were you using ?

LOOL. When I saw your video, that last one, I thought "OMYGOD" and when back up to check the first video. I realize just now that you're not the OP :D.

Very nice cinematography Fernando.

lol, thank you. I really love how the GH2 behave in low light situations. And my film is like 90% at night. I just got very confused about the 1/40 shutter speed. Before render it's ok, after it's bad. :/
