Haven't watch the movie, but done quite a bit of research on the Stanford Prison Experiment for school.
Gotta say, it's amazing how fast things spiral out of control, but I can't say how legitimate I find the experiment. (this is kind of off topic but...)
For example, when Zimbardo says anyone could have left if they wanted to, and when one of the prisoners pleaded to leave, they 'convinved' him to stay even after he asked that he wanted it to stop.
I think in the end if was a mix of some bending and interpretations of the rules and also the legitimate break-down of the volunteers.
