Sci-fi fests?

I have a sci-fi short I'm trying to put out there, but it seems there are far fewer sci-fi fests than I thought there would be. I've mostly done comedy in the past, so just assumed there'd be a ton of sci-fi fests. I've submitted to Miami Int'l and Boston and a few others. Do you know of any good ones to try and get into?

You're right. There are few sci-fi only fests. Which ones have you found?
Maybe we can fill in the blanks. I'd hate to give you a list of the few
sci-fi fests only to have you tell me you already know those.

I think most film festivals will accept films of all genres.

Oh okay. This is just what I think but sometimes in the festival I have attended, the programmers are surprised to get a movie that is different from the rest. It's a breath of fresh air, so maybe that might work to your advantage. But I could be wrong, and perhaps other festivals might not want that.

Wow!

You have done your research. You've entered 56 and still have
26 more to go. 82 festivals and you still want more. 82 isn't
enough?

I dont see Shriekfest in Los Angeles. Seems to be the only one
you missed. So that's 83 festivals. How much is this costing you?

That's a good point. I guess the flip side is that I'm not made of money. I really have to target high probability fests. Of course, that's impossible to know. I wish there was a way to submit and if they accept then I'd gladly pay. But that's not how it works. I guess fests make a lot of money off hundreds of submissions each year.

That list in total will be about $1500. I recall Shriekfest, but the submission fee is steeper than most.

So you see why I was reluctant to give you a list based on your first post.
You want suggestions of fests you haven't already found and those that
meet your specific fee limits.

I'm a curious guy so forgive me for asking another question;
You said there are far fewer sci-fi fests than you thought there would be
but you found 83. How many did you think there would be?

Take another look. Those aren't 83 sci-fi fests. Only a few are actually sci-fi fests. Which is why I was asking if people knew of any.

So how about a list of the sci-fi fest you have found. Narrow
it down for us. And maybe tell us your fee limit. That way
I can compare to my list and see what you may have missed.
I don't want to list ones you already have or ones that have
a fee that's too high for you.

I have a sci-fi film in post so I'm looking, too.

So 48 total.

That's about the same as my list - 52. But the others have fees
closer to Shriekfest or are in L.A. where you don't want to enter.

Good luck. I'm not going to enter anywhere near 83 fests. I admire
your dedication.
