Rented Canon 5D MKII *problem*

I recently rented a Canon 5D MKII, knowing but not making much of deal about the fact that it only takes CF's I rented it anyways for a urgent project. Now I'm sitting here not knowing how I'm going to transfer clips/shots to my Macbook Pro that I need to edit before Dec 1. Can I transfer through the USB hookup on the side? Or do I need to get a Compact Flash reader?

I don't have a 5d, but it would make sense to me if you could transfer it through the side mini USB out through a cable to the computer.

If you don't have the 5d anymore you might need to buy a card reader, they're not that expensive

You'll need to install the canon eos utility software that might have come with the camera. If it wasnt supplied then just dl it from the canon site. The preview update rate is pretty naff, but it does the job.

buy or rent the reader imho. There is little chance that usb might fk up

I never installed the eos software and had no issue... I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying it might not be an issue without it

Yup, use the USB port on the side and use "Image Capture" on your mac. It comes with OSX, just search for it in spotlight.

I use a CF card reader.
