Okay, Richy! While you may not want to emulate my exact setup, it makes for a good production checklist. Keep in mind, I haven't upgraded much, since 2007.
Production equipment:
To the left are two blue stunt mats, for falling on. Actors are always falling down in action scenes, so those get used a lot! Other items in these shots:
On the floor is a 60' by 13' blue screen. There's a standard sized green screen, Reflector stand, reflector board, 1K, 500 watt and 100 watt lights, with barndoors and softboxes, flag stands, mic stand, wheel chair, gel sheets (I keep a lot of 80A sheets around), mics (list below), fog machines, guns, etc. My main camera is the HVX200 and I also have the DVX100, along with Sony handicams. If you look closely, you can see a 16mm Bolex and two Canon Scoopics (hence my moniker name).
Mics:
Nothing too fancy, but I keep a variety of mics. Seen here, from right to left, are a Mackie mixer, blimp pistol grip, Sennheiser ME67 (for tight pickup), ME66, ME64, Audio Technica 3031 (minimizes reflective surface areas, like tiled bathrooms), two Sennheiser power modules, - above those are a Roland COSM mic for my VS1680 mixer (not pictured) and an ATM41A. To the left of those are a blimp, wind muff, Zoom H4N, and above those is my silver boom pole.
On the floor, you can see my crates of gas masks and military helmets.
Guns:
Okay, I use guns an awful lot, so they are a regular part of my equipment! Seen here are blank firing 9mm stage pistols and a stage machine gun. You can see me firing it in the beginning of the
INDIEMEET 2013 video. On the floor, is a crate of mostly Airsoft guns.
I use a small
motorhome and truck to haul this stuff.
Ooh! I should add that on the left side of that shot are 30 lens filters for the HVX. There are neutral density, polarizer, split focus, star and other effect filters.
My edit desk:
This setup is running HD video through a Matrox Axio video card, via Premiere CS2. It has been my workhorse, since 07', but it's time to upgrade. My next step, in a couple of months, will be a 64 bit computer and the Adobe Cloud Suite. While I hate the idea of paying monthly, it will allow me to jump right in to the latest software right away.
Most of my scoring setup:
Okay, I'm a hardware guy. While you see a lot of boards there, lately, I usually use just two or three - the Virus TI, Kronos (not pictured) and OASYS, then I "mine" whatever sounds I need from the rest, which I have extensive libraries for.
