Does this scene feel natural to you guys?
(4) INT. SORIN’S KITCHEN – EARLY MORNING
(a) Heather stands by the sink, filling a thermos with coffee as she listens to a radio show on her phone. She wears green nursing scrubs.
(b) Sorin walks into the kitchen, wearing a blue button down and red tie. He carries a satchel as he walks to the table to grab a banana.
SORIN
Alright I gotta go.
(c) He then grabs his white lab coat sitting on one of the chairs and puts it over his arm as he begins to head out.
SORIN
I’ll see you later, honey.
HEATHER
Hey, wait.
(d) Sorin stops and turns around.
HEATHER
Are we still on for tonight?
(e) He looks at her blankly.
HEATHER
We said we were going out..We talked about this remember?
SORIN
..Oh. Yeah of, course. Sorry, I didn’t understand what you were saying.
HEATHER
Are you ok?
SORIN
Yeah, I’m fine. Just a little tired. Tonight’s perfect.
HEATHER
You know, we don’t have to go out.
SORIN
(smiles)
Heather.
(f) Sorin walks up to Heather.
SORIN
There’s nothing more that I would rather do than spend time with you.
(g) Sorin puts his hands on her shoulders.
SORIN
I don’t care about anything else.
(h) He moves in to give her a long passionate kiss.
HEATHER
I know..I just don’t want to put you under pressure.
SORIN
But, you’re not.
HEATHER
Well, it kinda feels that way..
SORIN
I’m just working on some things. It’s not you.
HEATHER
Yeah, I know. But you know..maybe you should talk to someone.
(i) Sorin gives a slight look of disappointment.
SORIN
You mean like a therapist.
HEATHER
A lot of people with PTSD get help. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.
SORIN
It’s not that bad.
(j) He begins to walk away.
HEATHER
You still scream in your sleep.
(k) Sorin stops and turns around.
SORIN
What?
HEATHER
At least three times a week.
(l) Sorin steps back, disappointed that she knew what he dreamt about.
HEATHER
Come on..Don’t you want to put all this to rest?
(m) Sorin stands there, trying to think of what to say. He’s feeling a wave of emotions, from anger to fear. He scratches his head in frustration.
SORIN
(sighs)
Fuck. I can’t even think about this right now.
(n) He turns away and begins to head out the door. Heather catches up behind him.
HEATHER
Sorin. Hey, talk to me.
(o) She reaches out and grabs his shoulder, forcing him to turn around.
HEATHER
What’s goin on?
SORIN
Nothing.
HEATHER
Listen, if we’re gonna make it, we need to be honest with each other. Now, what’s wrong?
SORIN
(sighs)
..The FBI called last night. They want to meet again.
HEATHER
You didn’t tell them everything?
SORIN
Yeah. I did.
(p) They stand there silently.
HEATHER
..Are you sure it’s about Junior?
SORIN
I don’t know. Probably. Why else would they want to meet?
HEATHER
Well, he’s been dead for over two years. Why would they want to know more about him?
SORIN
I guess the case is still ongoing. He did a lot of things, you know?
HEATHER
Are you gonna be ok?
(q) Sorin gives a very un-assuring face.
SORIN
I’ll be fine.
(r) Sorin begins to walk away.
HEATHER
You have your medicine?
SORIN
I don’t need it.
HEATHER
But, do you have it?
SORIN
Yes. I got it.
(s) He takes the pills out of his pocket and rattles it in a mocking jester. He then opens the door and turns around.
SORIN
Listen, I’ll be fine today. Don’t worry about me.
