Ideas?

I'm very passionate about movies, and always have been. I have scripts to several shorts almost completed, but need to make some money. Being 13, money isn't the easiest to come by. Adults don't take me seriously, i'm too young to get a job, and my parents can't give me an allowance. i've made 17 shorts (all under $50) but now i'm looking into making larger shorts. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make some money (I need to get a better camera [currently using a 10 year-old VHS] some editing software, ext. mic, etc.)

You are in a tough spot because of your age, for sure. In my limited experience, I would say it is very difficult to make any money from a short film project. There just doesn't seem to be a big "paying" market for amateur short films. I'm not saying its impossible...just difficult.

Unless you know of a local business that could use a promotional video about their company (and you can convince them that you are capable of doing a professional-looking job), you might be limited to the traditional teenage jobs, like yard work or baby-sitting. At least until you are old enough to get a job at the local video store or movie theater (I recommend the theater, I did that when I was in school and it was a blast!)

Thanks, I'm looking to get a job when i turn 14 (in KY 14 in the min.). I'll look to work at a theatre, but i know i can't at a local rental place (have to be 18 because of the porno movies)

You can also try to get in contact with filmmakers in your area or over the Internet so that they shoot your script. Maybe your school have some equipment you can borrow?

Thanks for the suggestions,
I've checked with my school about equipment and classes on filmmaking. None.
I've looked into a paper route, but they require self-transportation and my parents aren't going to get up that early in the morning to drive me.
