I have spent a bit of time googling local film clubs in my area with little luck. How can one find listings of such clubs if they exist? I am looking to share my time and equipment with others who are likewise trying to learn more about the craft. Thanks for any input.

Maybe their aren't any where you live. You should start one.
What part of Virginia are you in? Hit me up. Maybe we can work together, or at least maybe I can point you in the right direction of where you should be looking to network. 
I have a background of teaching things I am uncommonly skilled at. Film making is not one of them...yet
I am just too unqualified to start such a group at this point in my learning process in my opinion.

I just started a Film Production Club at school! If you really want it, you can even start one.
I don't understand.
There is no requirement that a group is started by a skilled, experienced
professional. There may be a LOT of people just like you - at the beginning
of their learning process - looking for a local film group. They do quite a
bit of time googling local film clubs in the area and even checking meetup.com
and find nothing.
If YOU started a group others may find it. What harm can it do you to
start a local group? You're looking for one - maybe others are too and
none of them are starting one. So you are all just foundering around
hoping someone else starts one.
That is a well reasoned and valid argument. I believe you are right. I will give it a go.
