How does the job of an agent/manager differ between writers and directors?

I'm already aware of the different roles managers and agents play when it comes to screenwriting. However, I was wondering what the roles of an agent and manager are when it comes to directors. Do directors even need managers or agents? If so, one, or both? I'm curious to learn more about what a manager exactly does for a filmmaker, as opposed to a writer

Thanks!

I'm not really aware of the nuances of agents for writers. An agent for a director is a lot like an agent for an actor. They can help you get a job if you have a name for yourself, but they can also help negotiate your fee.

Managers and agents for directors do exactly the same thing for
their clients as managers and agents do for writers and actors.
Managers help manage the career path of directors, writers or
actors. Agents broker the deals. As Sweetie said, they negotiate
contracts and work on finding the right jobs. No difference at
all between writers, actors or directors.

Do directors even need managers or agents? If so, one, or both?
The answer is often disputed for all talent. Needs change. Some
do not need either. Some have one, some have both. Not the
answer you wanted, I know. But the need depends on so many
variables there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer.
