watch Gore Effect #1 - Bloody Arm

So, I've decided to take up a new hobby! Special Effects Make-Up!

Here's my first attempt, check it out (WARNING: lots of blood, so possibly not for the squeamish...)

Sorry that some of these shots are blurred, too. I guess that's why it takes more than one person to make a movie, huh?

Anyway, as I said, this is my first attempt and I've made a few mistakes... you can see the tube in several of the shots... the blend from latex to skin isn't as nice as it should be... Anything else anybody can spot? Any thoughts, comments, questions, hints or tips?

All-in-all, I'm pretty happy with it. Plus, it was a lot of fun to do! Thank God I don't live with my parents, my mother would have gone nuts if she saw the mess I made of my bathroom!!!

Cheers!

Love it!

When I was starting I lived with my parents. The bathroom, the
kitchen, the backyard were always covered in blood. Mom got
used to it.

verry nice..but remember you can always do quick shots/cuts /edits to help it out..low lighting also helps...btw what products are you using...might want to do a step by step video and some test shots to pratice..good work!

Very nice. That made me hungry.

I don't think that was what I was aiming for, but... whatever!

...btw what products are you using...

Well, I live in the UK, so I can't really do your shopping for you, but this is what I got:

Liquid Latex (flesh tone): http://www.liquidflesh.com/
Fake Blood: http://www.filmblood.com/
Foundation: http://www.revlon.com/Revlon-Home/Products/Face/Foundation/Revlon-Custom-Creations-Foundation.aspx

The latex is pretty good, a little too clear though. Would require lots of layers to get a solid colour, but with the foundation, it's not really a problem. The fake blood is really good, but you might be better off looking for a recipe and making your own, it'd be much cheaper. I chose that foundation so I could have better control of the tone, you can just dial in how dark you want it and it mixes itself. Inside the wound, I just used some cheap halloween make-up (there's loads of it around at the moment!). I then used a cheap powder foundation (from the pound-shop) to finish it off.

Thanks all for taking the time to take a look. As I said, a had a load of fun making this. I intend to do another one this weekend, not sure what yet. Maybe a knife through the hand...
