This is the investigation, analysis, and dissection of the top youtube content providers defined by those with the most subscribers.
http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?t=44191

The intent is that by understanding what elements go into the concept, design, execution, and promotion of market valued content that we ourselves may adopt some of these practices in developing our own content.

Why would we want to do that?
Why would we even care?

For my own reason -
From the light research I've conducted in crowdsourcing at the beginning of the filmmaking process and the marketing and promotion of the completed film products the key is to come to the table having already cultivated a following.
> Cold calling for fi$cal attention is grossly ineffective.
> Bring an interested crowd to your crowdsourcing campaign.
> Bring an interested crowd to marketing and promoting your finished film.

I would like to see some of the reasons others here at IT are interested in top youtube content providers.
Zen Steve?
Lucky Hardwood?
Icba Pictures?
Paul Griffith?
Any one else?

This looks waaaaaay more complicated than just hanging out your shingle and hassling your family, friends, and forum friends to watch and subscibe.

Getting a little off the path with this one: http://videoproductiontips.com/equipment-needed-to-set-up-a-simple-video-studio/

Also for the same, but also think we need original. Was trying to do one with a brain-like image inside a theater/stage/curtain area above the words done in a more gritty font. May have to just draw it and post a photo if I don't find time to do it on the computer. Maybe I should try to get my kids to do it..

Figured out how to make NICE videoHaiga animated GIFS: Save the FPS @ 5.

I hope you all enjoy the holiday season (even if you don't celebrate for religious reasons - it's always a lovely opportunity to spend time with family).
Don't get too drunk and have fun!

I'm continuing my weekly Youtube upload but may have trouble keeping up until my album is finished. We'll see.

As I have leaned on way too many occasions, strippers are unreliable. Jessa has dropped off of the face of the Earth, not really she just hasn't communicated with me in awhile. I have a couple of other folks to audition for the pimp show. I shall keep you guys posted.

When there is not a guaranteed check in it, and even then at times, people flake. I have an actress right now that I am afraid to cast as more than an extra because she is so unreliable.

Anyway, I have the first couple episodes of my series being shot next weekend. We should be ready to debut on January 27th.

I have a friend working on a review show that we can use. It will be hosted on his channel probably, but it can be linked (syndicated) for the central Channel.

The action series is on hold. In the midwest of the US. Snow killed everything I wanted to do.

We have just over a couple weeks until mid January. We need some content. The central channel needs at least 3 syndicated programs linked for its debut. All my shows debut on Sundays.

Youtube does maintenance on Wednesdays. Some content can be syndicated right now.

About freddiew
Just some cool dudes making sweet vids with rad FX!

& you should probably watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ah0b_mwGE4

Nice enough camera work
Surprising number of blown out exposures
Audio all collected in post
Major CGI + green screen
No obsession with level hand held camera work
Plenty of little extra audio layer add ins
Humor and familiarity with subject material to make fun of it are key.
FW uses "community power" to invite other YT buddies in for the collaboration.
Two actors + several resources + a few production crew
Two costumes + couple props + ears

Interesting they drove 650 miles to a location just to shoot this.

freddiew : Far Cry Vacation - 5:14min - Nov 9, 2012 - 2,473,168 views

BTS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z87VQ4QRvJ4

The key to "good" shaky-cam is
A. Don't go epileptic.
B. Control the left-right rocking like a steering wheel. You can bob up 'N down or sway left 'N right all you want, but it's that "Look I'm turning left & right!" sh!t that looks like... sh!t.
Impressive control over blow-outs, especially considering the sunny lighting.
Big location score!
Lotta actors
For these guys, non-challenging SFX
Again, another collab opportunity

freddiew : Hitman - 4:35min - Oct 30, 2012 - 3,998,301 views

BTS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXzQutmLrRs

The white environment and some clothes make blow out avoidance difficult, but there was no regard.
Another collab effort.
Storytelling's a bit weak on all of these.
I'm surprised that with all FW's experience he doesn't get the prosumer-cam look licked.

BTS: Whatizat? a Sony FSsomething? Nice camera. Still looks like relative poop. I'm surprised.

Alright, he's been at this for six years.
Lettuce see what his first couple looked like and then a year into it...

First video -
freddiew : Aces - 1:23min - Feb 22, 2006 - 591,478 views

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZsjfq2Jo5k
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZsjfq2Jo5k

Cr@p camera
Copyright infringement music (Fist Full of Dollars)
Classic cliché nube camera shots & angles.
Nice room echo
Decent stunts

Second video -
How to speed reload your pistol like an action hero - 0:24 min - Jun 22, 2006 - 1,272,171 views

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT9SFfnqMGQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT9SFfnqMGQ

Horrible pixelation. Probably more to do with uploading format than camera.
No white balance for interior tungsten lights
Lovely audio

A year later...
freddiew : True Guitar Heroism - 2:59 - Apr 17, 2008 - 891,697

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFVyQSmf_RY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFVyQSmf_RY

Cr@p camera
Cr@p audio
Terrible lighting
Fun with FX

Alrighty then...
Great things from small beginnings.
