I shot a feature using 2 audio systems: I used the mic from the Canon XLHI and also the zoom H4, which I stored as wave files. Should I first edit the film video and then try and sync it with the sound files from the H4? Or should I sync it first before I do any editing?

I would think sync it first. If you edit it first, won't the clap points not be in the piece to be able to sync to?

Sync first and then just run the multiple audio tracks; make sure that they are all locked to the video clips. This will save you dozens of hours later on.

Do a quick and dirty offline edit with full clips, no cross fades, to pick the best footage and save it. Then start working on a copy of that. When you get past your offline then you can go back to your first pass offline and sync only what you need to sync. You will still have your
slates on your first pass copy. Then just import your synced footage over the top of post offline edit. It can save a lot of time that way.

Sync first. Create sequences or timelines that have the slates matched up before you start to edit, then you'll have the good audio the entire time you edit.
