Directors on set

Hey,

I'm searching for takes of directors in action - behind the scene of how the directors work with their actors. So, does any of you know a dvd with good special features where we get to see the director direct his/her actor? or maybe it can be found on youtube?

I've tried and have found a little, but would appreciate it if you could help me.

thanks

Two of my favourite films - The Fall and Atonement - have really insightful behind the scenes featurettes (I think there are two forty minute films for The Fall). Although they don't completely focus on the director-actor relationships, they both concentrate on the storytelling process rather than the technical details.

Watch My Best Fiend and Hearts of Darkness. They will give you a pretty amazing insight into how directors and actors work. Ok, they're extreme examples, but they make for damn good films in their own right and that makes them about a 100% more watchable than footage of Ken Loach slowly marshalling his way through a working class Yorkshire living room...

From what I recall, behind-the-scenes of Superman: The Movie with Richard Donner is pretty awesome. He seems to have an affable personality and makes the cast and crew feel very much at ease. The Goonies!

* I think this is part of what I saw... actually this is for Part II, but still, poke around YouTube or elsewhere and you can find all sorts of fun and informative clips...

King Kong has a behind the scenes DVD set...

Sin City Box set has "The Long Take" with tarantino and rodriguez directing and the camera just keeps running, so you see/hear all of it.

The Panic Room Box Set has TONNES of BTS on it covering every aspect of filmmaking and I highly recommend it for any filmmaker.

Might not be for everyone, but Robert Rodriguez's Ten Minute Filmschool on youtube or on his movies' DVD is kind of cool, specially for VFX knowhow.
Also, there's this Sin City long camera take, it goes for like, 20 minutes, in which you see Tarantino and Rodriguez directing Del Toro and Owen in the car scene.
