Commercial film production is good.

I don't want to expand my firm to be a worldwide entity, but I would love to build an international multi-media conglomerate. One means could be through commercial advertising, which is lucrative and provides steady work. In fact, even though film and TV work is leaving California, commercial production is up. I wonder if the same is true for other jurisdictions.

In fact, I was at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012, and I asked the panel if advertising was a good way to get into the business. An agent from William Morris Endeavor, a panel member, then said he wanted to answer the question, and, yes, Filmation and another company did it that way - he may also know that Jerry Bruckheimer was an advertising executive before he hit it big in film.

I've been looking at this for quite awhile, if only as a side business, and I'm surprised George Lucas never got into it.
