Fantastic books -- lots of pictures.

I love "Motion Picture and Video Lighting" by Blain Brown. Everything you could want to know about lighting a scene is in this book. It also come with a dvd that takes you through alot of different techniques. Here's a section of the dvd where they light the same scene 7 different ways

Just ordered the Five C's one, heard great things about that, once I've got that I'll have a look into the others, cheers for the recommendations guys

"Painting with light" is another that I really liked.

'The Visual Story'.
It's not a 'beginners' book; it's not about setting up cameras and lights or directing.
It is about the visual elements on screen and how these elements can enhance the story and add meaning to it. It's about color, flat space vs deep space, composition, etc.
