Anybody have ideas for making a really cheap waterproof housing for my Canon XH-A1? The need is not even for underwater videography-- what I need is something to protect the XH-A1 while I film next to or even in a stream. I will need to do some filming standing in a stream about 1 foot deep-- using a tripod-- but if I were to slip and the camera were to fall into the water it would be toast unless it could be protected from water for just a few seconds. I was wondering if I might find a large zip-lock type freezer storage bag, super glue a circular opening around a spare UV / skylight filter, then screw that into the camera, seal up the bag, duct tape the hell out of the bag openings? Would that suffice do you think? I would be sick to my stomach if it did not work and I were to ruin my camera. But the thing is I do not plan to put the camera in water-- but I have to plan for a potential falling over of the tripod, or slippery feet in the stream, so that the camera might be in the water for a few seconds. Otherwise I see various $500 waterproof plastic bag type housings on B&H but geez $500 seems steep considering the minor protection I need. Any ideas?
