I’m in pre-production on my first feature-length documentary and am looking for advice on camera choice...
This will be my graduation film and I intend to submit it to major festivals subsequently.
Unfortunately, the on-campus equipment is prosumer level and I’m not sure if AVCHD can provide sufficient quality for my purposes.
Cameras available:
Canon 7D
Panasonic AF101
Many festivals stipulate HD Cam/Betacam SP PAL/Digibeta PAL formats as a requirement...
Can I achieve acceptable results for festival competition shooting with AVCHD then converting to one of these formats or would I be better off biting the bullet and hiring a more professional camera for this project?
