British Columbia, Canada, may be on a comeback.

Vancouver, British Columbia, was known as "Hollywood North", because it used to be the third-largest film production center. But tax incentives by other places, notably Toronto, Canada as well as American states, have decimated the industry in one of the most livable places on Earth.

The government of BC has refused to match tax incentives, saying it can't afford to lose the revenues, and so the result is the continued loss of work to other places. Now, however, the Premier may be backtracking, as she considers providing credit for post-production services.

The weaker Canadian dollar is also helping, but the currency will rise again, so this is just a temporary advantage. The long run solution, right or wrong, is to match those tax incentives.

LA is, of course, facing similar problems.
