Judges Announced for the Bethel Film Festival... recognize anybody on the jury?

Who will be deciding the fate of more than 40 indie movies to be
screened at the 2005 Bethel Film Festival? The names of six
festival judges were announced today for the New England-based event
that will take place October 25-30.

The first six of a total of 18 film judges include a New York-based
television network head, a founder of an online independent filmmaker forum,
programmers from other international festivals, and newspaper film
reviewers.

They are: Keith Dawkins, general manager, Nicktoons; Dan O'Berry, founder of
Indietalk.com and filmmaker; Bobbie Lautenschlager, filmmaker, curator,
juror and programmer, St. Louis International Film Festival; Sky Sitney,
filmmaker and programmer, Newport International Film Festival; John
Boonstra, film reviewer, Hartford/New Haven Advocate and
Fairfield/Westchester Weekly; and Joe Meyers, film reviewer, Connecticut
Post.

“We are very pleased with the caliber and scope of our judges for our
inaugural event,” commented Carol Spiegel, programming director of the
Bethel Film Festival.

Categories under which films will be judged include Feature, Documentary,
Animation, Short, Student, and World Cinema. To date, over 200 films from
nearly a dozen countries have been submitted for consideration. Submissions
close July 31 and final selections will be announced in early September.

Judges will view and rate selected movies on DVD, however festival
screenings will be shown on film as well as digital formats, says Spiegel.
The filmmakers of winning selections will be awarded cash and in-kind
prizes.
