Quick question and would love everyone's opinion on this. I typically have worked with FCP 7 a lot in the past, where it was ProRes pretty much all the way. But with the explosion of Premiere and all the new cameras (digital) I'm not so sure I'm viewing all possible options? And getting the best image quality for the final film.
What's the best codec to finish your film in, specifically for these mediums (granted once you have a master you can compress from there, but to break it down I separated it below):
Theater: DCP transfer... but before going to this, is the best option still something like ProRes 4444? 422 (HQ)? Anything else? And this obviously would be my master before the DCP transfer and subsequent compressions for below.
TV: Still ProRes 422 (HQ)?
Web: H264?
I'm editing a variety of footage. From RED to 5D and 7D FYI.
