FWIW:
Normally lens flares don't look like they do in the video; at least when you use spherical lenses. The flares in the videos you've posted look the way they do because the videos are shot using anamorphic lenses. Anamorphic's give you a different type of lens flare that looks very different from a spherical lens flare. Such lenses tend to flare really easily so it's not difficult to get the lens flares you're looking at.
Video Copilot has a plugin you can use for flares in post - IIRC the movie Super 8 uses a combination of real anamorphic lens flares and VC lens flares (Andrew Kramer did a bunch of VFX for it).
