    Logos and brand names

I know this has sort of been covered before, but I want to clear a few things up. In my short film I have mistakenly caught a few brand names and logos. One is of a major skate company's hat - the words are visible at some points. Another is an emblem on the front of a car. A license plate...

    Directing a documentary

I always think that you should make a documentary on something your passionate about, or at least if there is a good story and your subjects are passionate.

watch 'alone' - a zero budget short, and how I did it.

There was some real nice stuff in there. Apart from too much hand held camera I thought it was a nice story.

    The Cheapest Dolly Ever

I think the only place this would work would be a linoleum flooring...and yet...I think it would be better to put a blanket under the tripod because it would be quieter than tin foil. There's no perfect substitute for a dolly than a real dolly with track...unless you build one well with...

    Camera

You may want to consider something HD. Just a thought.

    AVATAR -no spoilers (yet)-

Visually stunning and captivating. It was said earlier in the thread. Great movie, but the SFX are what elevated it for me. More work should have gone into the story. Yes, it is a story we've seen before...but aren't most things that way anyways. Yes the characters were stereotypes - but they...

watch Panic Attack --short film gets major recognition.

Is this all in the kids imagination. I mean, he was playing with the robots, then they came to life, perhaps his imagination. Maybe it was intentional that the CGI wasn't perfect, it almost looked 'imagined' and out of place.

    The Hangover

I thought A Serious Man was the funniest film of the year.

watch Time flies (An amateur attempt)

I can only imagine. They do look ridiculous.

The Price of Christmas- A Documentary Film by Steve Keider

I should put that on my Christmas list. In all seriousness though, what is the need for registering to see the trailer? A lot less people will watch the trailer.

    Casting

Imagine if they spotted it. That would be an interesting scene. As the director or producer you can hold your auditions in any manner you want, as long as you aren't breaking any of the union's policies with certain actors. I'm not sure on the actual rules, but I believe actors in the SAG union...

    Clever Character Names

Office Space - Bill Lumbergh First off, 'Bill' is such a typical common name - which is perfect for the character in Office Space. And then there's 'Lumbergh'. It is such a focal point at some points in the film. It is very comedic. 'Lumbergh f***ed her'. It adds to the movie a lot.

watch Time flies (An amateur attempt)

It would not have been nearly as good without the accents. I liked it. Only thing is perhaps there could have been more movement front the characters during the conversation. Also some of the cuts were a bit jarring. I thought it was funny though. Nice job.

    Paul Glover Composer saying Hi

Lol. I figured. It's basically an opposite of classical. I may or may not have someone scoring the film at this point, but I thought I'd let you know what I was working on. I will be uploading some clips onto the Internet shortly after the holidays as teasers; however, in the mean time, this...

    watch Disturbing, yet sexy commercial

Visually the first half is cool. I'm assuming your advertising the blog. Shouldn't you have the website at the end?

    Paul Glover Composer saying Hi

I'm currently working on a 35 minute absurd dramatic comedy short film. It revolves around a loser drug dealer. I am going to be looking for an eighties techno / funky kinda vibe. It appears to sound fine now.

watch Info. (Film Noir style short)

Keep in mind my critique is also personal taste and you don't have to agree with any of what I said. I'm happy that you got what you wanted then. That's always important.

    Practice makes perfect

The best way to gain that type of experience is to make a short film that requires all of that. Shoot a couple page script. Shot list it, get the necessary equipment, light it, then shoot the shots you have planned for - then edit it...and from there you will notice things you wish you had done...

    Work Stations

Haha. Some people work better in organized messes...that only they could navigate through. However, I'm 100 percent positive he cleaned up for the picture. Jk..

    watch First post, 1st Doc

I was just thinking more about this. I like the idea a lot. It's so simple, yet - it works so well because people are passionate about this - the people eating and the vendors. Also the whole recession was a nice backdrop to the story.
