The IndieCinema.org is now screening films!

It's more of a showcase than a festival. I am considering dropping the whole "festival" idea but it's a good way to advertise the site. I should start using the term "cinema" or "showcase" more instead. It is a festival in many ways though. The exposure, the comments, the (soon to come)...

The IndieCinema.org is now screening films!

VHS and DVD are fine if you can't make a MiniDV dub. I would like to request MiniDv but if I get a great indie film on VHS, sure I'll post it!

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I'll try to answer the questions... Mini DV tape submissions are my preference because they are simple, high quality and easy to mail. I want to find the perfect compression recipe and stick with it in order that all offerings on the IndieCinema.org...

    IndieCinema.org Online Film Festival

Not a problem - "undistributed" would refer to TV or Theater but even then it wouldn't be a problem - as long as you own the rights, you can give us permission to screen it. I look forward to seeing your work.

    IndieCinema.org Online Film Festival

I have been advised that my previous "idea" will work! I have rewritten the Entry Form and Rules for The IndieCinema.org Online Film Festival. Apparantly, "permission to exhibit" is enough legal protection for our purposes. Filmmakers will NOT be requiered to release ANY rights to...

Spatula, thanks for the example. Eddie, yes - I'm afraid your film is too long. We only consider films under ten minutes. The reason I use a PO Box is that my home office is located in a residential area that does not recieve postal delivery service. Most of the town here must use PO Boxes.

    Canadian Film Schools

I went to the Vancouver Film School. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone. However, film schools seem to change and grow quite a bit over relatively short peiods of time. I attended VFS in 1999. As far as I know it still rocks!

    IndieCinema.org Online Film Festival

I'd love to but I'm not sure how this can be done without putting The IndieCinema.org at extreme legal risk. According to lawyers that I have spoken with, showing a film online requiers nothing less than unlimited distribution and exhibition rights. The very nature of the internet makes this a...

    IndieCinema.org Online Film Festival

Not at all. The contract stipulates unlimited - not exclusive - rights. The filmmaker retains ownership which means he/she can do whatever they want with it including entering into an agreement with a distributer or buyer (and we would encourage that). Technically, yes. But it does not say...

    IndieCinema.org Online Film Festival

I chose an existing entry form used by another well known film festival and used it as a framework for my own entry form. I haven't had my own lawyer look at it but I am confident that it is legally appropriate. The original entry form was drafted by an entertainment lawer and mine is very...

    IndieCinema.org Online Film Festival

I have reworded the 3rd paragraph of the Festival Rules. Please download the updated version of the Entry Form available now from The IndieCinema.org. Any feed back is more than welcome. The 3rd paragraph now reads: 3. Submission of an entry automatically transfers unlimited exhibition...

    IndieCinema.org Online Film Festival

Thanks for your question - I agree the wording of that second sentence is quite extreme. It exists only to protect us legally. We do not intend to sell or distribute the films that are submitted to us in any way other than by screening them online at the IndieCinema.org film festival (we won't...
