    Los Angeles Transportation Question

Hey Guys, I am thinking about becoming a set or office PA in Los Angeles, and was wondering do you think it is 100% necessary to have a car? I was thinking about cutting some corners for expenses and was thinking I could just bike around town and to work and stuff; any opinions on working this...

how many takes for each shot

I feel as the director if you know that you have the shot that you got perfect (or as close as you can get) then that is all you need; possibly just one more to be safe. But that random student is probably just talking cause lots of features have high ratios. Such as Zero Dark Thirty shots...

    software for sin city-type film?

Is this a question about what software is best for animation? In that case we can have a very long discussion about software. Some free software to possibly look at would be Blender. For education use only you can use most of the software that autodesk makes so like maya and 3ds max and so...

    3D for Ad

How the 3D effect works is by showing two slightly different images in both eyes for the brain to perceive depth and add that 3d effect. What the glasses do is only show one of the images to each of your eyes. Now to try and answer your question, no I do not think it is possibly to have it...

    Question about GoPro type cameras.

I saw a mistyped speed number, thank god you caught me. The thing I was trying to say was keep it very slow, so unless you are driving like an idiot beside a cliff or something you should be fine. I mean 1-5, (10 if you trust the driver) because the amount of velocity it would take you...

    Question about GoPro type cameras.

I can see the shots working perfectly fine with a GoPro or a DSLR. A GoPro might be as easy as tape (literally, duct tape), while a DSLR might be a little harder to pull off the look you are wanting, but still relatively easy. Easiest way I could think of is sit in the car, and lean out the...

    Question about GoPro type cameras.

The GoPro is really known for that type of look, my advice is if you do like that look then run with a different camera, such as a DSLR.

    Question about GoPro type cameras.

I would say if the GoPro footage is placed properly in the timeline, and with the way you are editing, it really shouldn't look silly at all. For instance take a look at this, the GoPro footage does not take away from the video, it just adds to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYthI8sVTME...

    Question about GoPro type cameras.

A very simply way to get a steady shot of an actor in a car while driving is almost the obvious. Just lay on the hood of the car, and have the actor drive it and shoot the actor. I mean I am not saying driving 5+ miles an hour, but you know 1-10 should be fine, and long as they don't slam on...

The answer to Chimp's question is the real one we need. We don't know if it is a directors who's movies you would like to watch, or someone you would like to meet. So.......

Does a director have the right to re-assign duties in the crew?

Haha, soon as I saw that line I laughed a little to much.

    School?

Question about did you go to (if you are old enough) film school (or a college) or did you not, and simply do something else? Just wondering where everyone is from, and what I want to do. P.S. If you did go to film school do you think it was worth it?

    This a good set up?

Most computers are good enough to edit on, but are not going to be fast. Your specs look better then my computer and I can edit a 30minute short, without it become to slow for my likings. Yours should be just fine for shorts.
