    Does Cineplex hate indie cinema?

5 in region and a 6th out of region. I meant to say they have contracts and heavy pull over the cineplex chains. Mainstream studios have guaranteed earnings and they don't want to piss them off.

Do you decide the market / distribution channel before completion?

You should have a framework but it doesn't have to be set in stone. I knew for example before production began that I'd be independently distributing to local and secondary theaters and the prices I'd have to pay. However depending on how well productions was going and the preliminary...

    Does Cineplex hate indie cinema?

I must note again the "off-prime" hours. As in, this would literally be the times theaters have NOTHING showing. They're making $0 so they're setting the bar at $2,000 or $0. Which is their business practice but it's not financially beneficial in the traditional sense. The pricing I was told is...

    Does Cineplex hate indie cinema?

Booking screenings for my film and everything is going rather smoothly. Most of the venues are understanding and reasonable. Then there's Cineplex. After talking to them in detail they give me this price breakdown: $300 per hour with minimum 3 hour booking ($900) $500 projection fee +taxes...

    License overview

http://audiojungle.net/licenses/regular This is the regular license details for one of the websites I am considering purchasing royalty tracks from. They have an extended license as well. My question is if the above regular license covers festival entries. Since tickets are sold to the...

    > The Budget Thread

It's only my opinion, but I'll add to discussion on the topic of distribution and OPM: 1. Life is short and time is thy enemy. Instead of sitting on an idea trying to get funding, you can make an attempt with your own finances and those of smaller partners to make a lower budget film than what...

    Standards for Nudity Pricing?

Thanks IDOM, I was thinking the same. I've done calls, agencies charge up the butt so I'd prefer working one on one. Yes Poetry, I have also gotten good numbers in casting calls. However I can tell you that after shortlisting for meetings I usually only meet a handful of women I am satisfied...

    Standards for Nudity Pricing?

I've gotten two opinions. And they're not very detailed, just the typical " depends on the actor ". Well I'm being specific, I'm speaking about cover models, not theater students.

    Standards for Nudity Pricing?

Understandable Zensteve. However I'm speaking about gorgeous models. Not your girl next door. Maybe you can luck out, but I sincerely believe for quality and less time wasted, paying fair price is a good option. $500 a day is what I'd pay out of my own pocket if I wanted a main nudity scene...

How to Make a Few Extras Look Like Hundreds?

Does nobody want to use miniatures anymore? Do you guys think it's less tedious to do the CGI cloning? Just create a landscape and use a ton of minatures and go stop-motion animation. Use closeups so you don't need so much footage of the large crowds.

    Standards for Nudity Pricing?

What if the nudity makes sense, but it is not a requirement in the plot? I think $500 a day should land you most model types who are willing to do nudity to begin with.

So what the hell are the breakdowns of low budget???

I think the essential budget points should be the equipment you're using (rental preferred), music and believe it or not, actor fees. I think lower budget films should concentrate on heavy dialogue because let's face it, the glitz just isn't there. To make sure these heavy dialogue scenes are...

    Standards for Nudity Pricing?

My source? Casting calls that require nudity and what they offer. It's 200-300/hr usually though I've seen as low as $150. I guess I should clarify "next to nothing". He paid them $120 for what he says was roughly 4 hours on set. I agree it was artistically done but still. I suppose it...

    The Human Centipede?

I think one might get a sick thrill acknowledging it is a film. As far as the horror context, I have no idea. It's another one of those horror films where if you break it down, you can't help but think of how you would do better in said situation.

So what the hell are the breakdowns of low budget???

I've always considered films under $100,000 to be ultra low budget pictures. We all here understand that you can make a quality film under that budget with the technology available to us, but that it will undeniably be an indie production. Now, a $20,000 film to me is considered on the...

    Standards for Nudity Pricing?

I know my name will give some of you a crude vibe but believe me when I tell you I am simply curious on the subject. This is not something I'm looking at in the near future. I know of a few people who have had artistic nudity done in their films for next to nothing in cost, but this astounds...

    $100 vs. $150?

This issue is closed now. For references, SAG's minimum is $100/day. I would never pay an actor a measly $100 for a 12 hour shift. EVER. I don't care what the standards are but I will always consider hourly pay. I usually guarantee the actors 4 hours paid, so if I'm paying them $20/hr they...

Could I have a budget this low for this type of movie?

I can only begin to imagine what I would be capable of doing with $85,000. The OP is a complete troll. Yes, I understand that his movie appears to require more special FX but don't think you can't go the traditional minatures route. Why the hell do you need computer imagery really? Every sci...
