    Moving green screen

We're going to do some test shots in a couple of days so I'll see whats possible and what not. The problem I fear facing is that some part of the actors will be in a space where the background will be replaced and which I cant easily key out. Thanks for your help tough. That sky replacement...

    Moving green screen

I dont know how long yet. Its the view on a hill ontu a city in the background. No camera movement. The city will be replaced. So the hill outline will have to be masked and the walking actors which rise above the hill line as well. do you know what I mean?

    Moving green screen

Hey everyone For a short film I'm working on we have a couple of scenes (wide shots) where the actors walk on a hill and the background (beyond the hill-outline) will get replaced in post. So we were thinking of doing this with a green screen that gets moved with the actors behind them. Then in...

Time schedulling for a 3 minute short film

I agree with broosky. Location scouting is a must and will save you lots of time!

Time schedulling for a 3 minute short film

@gonzo_entertainment, yes, you are right with that. I was thinking of keeping things simple, so: one closeup, one medium shot per actor. I intended to let the actors run their dialog trough, then switch camera position and film the other actor, letting them run trough the dialog again without...

Is this compositing idea going to work?

Thanks, I'm glad it is received well by the audience. Yes, I used a lot of feathering as a cheap way to make the whole mask appear "ghostly". I might change that in the final result.

Time schedulling for a 3 minute short film

Thanks for the help. There will be two actors, most of it is stationary dialog and a few movement shots. All being done in a studio in front of a green screen.

Time schedulling for a 3 minute short film

This will be my first short film so I'm wondering: how much time should I schedule for a shooting in a studio? It will consist of a dialog that stretches out for about two film minutes in the final cut.

Is this compositing idea going to work?

Is this compositing idea going to work?

Here is some test shot I made with basic post-processing done in after effects: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjlhhNsrNeY I think it works pretty well all tough the image is pretty flat. I might want to keep an eye out for that when planing the shots. What do you think?

Is this compositing idea going to work?

Agreed, but I wan't to keep it as natural as possible. I want the audience to think its green screen with expensive cgi when it's actually pretty cheap. ;) Thanks for the measure tape reminder.

Is this compositing idea going to work?

Ya, I'll try to do that tomorrow. I think the hardest part will be getting the perspectives and depth of field right in every shot. Along with removing the outlines of the keeying so it looks natural.

Is this compositing idea going to work?

So I have this idea in mind but I'm not sure if it will work since my compositing experience is a bit limited: The idea is to shot each scene twice: Once with actors wearing makeup under blacklight and once in the night on location without the actors. Now I was thinking of simply keying out the...

    Blacklight - Yes or no?

Ya, I'll organize one tomorrow along with some blacklight makeup. I figured I would shot the actors with full face makup and have them wear black cloths. Then I would shot every scene twice and remove their body using a mask. The aim is to create two ghostly looking faces floating in the air...

    Blacklight - Yes or no?

I'm wrapping my head around using blacklight and a makeup artist to film so minimalistic footage in the dark. Now my question is if anyone of you have any experiences with blacklight? I figured it would be an easy tool to create some strong outlines and contrasts and key out the rest in post...

How to do outdoor lightning at night?

:) All right, thanks for the many inputs and ideas. I'll do some location scouting at night with some test shots. Then I'll see what I can rent around here. I'll probably end up using a portable generator, a smoke machine, two lights and a few reflectors. I think that might work well. On...

How to do outdoor lightning at night?

Valid idea :) thank you. The problem with no wall/etc. in the background is that it will be shot at a lake and some shots will face the shore, fading the water into blackness. Then again I don't know the exact location yet. There might be some bushes or trees. What solutions are commonly used...

How to do outdoor lightning at night?

I plan to shot a few scenes outdoor at night at a lake. And I need some help regarding how to properly light the scene since this will the first short film I'll shot. I want to achieve a ghostly/eerie ambient look. There will probably be snow lying around so I might use that bounce the light...
