watch "Tartarus" Austrian Independent Flick

I don't know if there will be an english dubbed version for any kind of release, but there will be definitely a subtitled version for some Festivals and at least for the DVD & Blu-Ray Publication.

You prefer dubbed over sub-titles? I really hate dubbed.

sub-titles = the original film with the addition of titles.

dubbed = the removal of the original dialog, replaced with new actors, or the same actors re-delivering lines that will never be the same (voice, inflection, etc.)

Dubbed is for the lazy audiences that don't care about the intentions of the director.
 
Depends on the movie really. And the intentions of the director is not always clear with subtitles due to impopor translastion. When it comes to horror movies I think dubbing is good because that genre is visual and when you have to read and watch, people tend to miss something.

Subs killed "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" because there was so much dialog and film was fill with such seranry and action. To much reading.
 
For animation it's allright to re-dub in other languages, it's less obvious.

But I think live action film should be shown in it's intended language with subs. Whats wrong with reading.

1. You miss emotional subtlety.

2. You miss action.

3. You miss important inserts.

4. You miss beautiful shots, scenery, cinematography.


Those are just a few things which are possible to miss when trying to read and watch simultaneously. One of my favorite movies is CITY OF LOST CHILDREN, and I hate that I have to miss even a second of those visuals...

But anyway...to throw in my two cents...I'd much rather read subs than to hear dubbing.
