Age Restrictions on YouTube

Hello everyone!

I wanted to get your opinions on age restrictions.

Recently, a film of mine got flagged and then age restricted by YouTube.
Now, I kinda saw something like this coming, seeing how the film deals with suicide.
So at first I didn't really mind that much.

Lately, however, it has been bothering me a bit.
Reason why? Well, there are so many violent videos out there that have got thousands more views, google ads, features on the homepage etc. and they're not flagged. FilmRiot (not to bash them in whatsoever!!!) has even hosted a monday challenge centered around headshots. Not even to mention stuff like Happy Tree Friends and DIY film tips on slitting wrists and throats. Even FreddieW has a lot to do with death and violence. (Again, not meaning to talk dirty about the people and videos mentioned above).

It just proves the point that violence doesn't quite seem to be a big thing on YouTube.

So if it's not the violence, it must be the (very) mild nudity in my film.
If that's the case, I don't have any hope left for humanity and youtube. :)

These issues have been raised before. That agressive violence is fine, but a vague non pornographic nipple.. isn't.

Anyway, I really want to get your opinions on this matter.
Personally it annoys me.

Thanks for reading and I hope I posted this in the right place!

(To check out the film I was talking about; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LFlYnkRxOo ).

a. Your film had a much darker and serious tone than filmriot or freddiew

b. if several people flag your video, youtube doesn't even watch it, they just either ban it or age-restrict it. Someone flagged a video of mine once for graphic violence (it had none) and it got banned. I researched it and many people have complained that their videos got banned, without even a reviewing process from youtube

Darker, yes!

But none the less, in my opinion violence is violence and death is death.
I guess I'm just bothered by the thin line of what is allowed and what isn't.
Even SAW trailers, though no direct graphic blood and gore, is allowed.

I don't know, I'm really just thinking out loud.

Oh, and nasty about YouTube deleting videos without a reviewing process. (Not really surprising, but) I didn't know that happend.

If you see a female nipple, pornographic or not, it is sure to get age-restricted. I haven't seen the video but that sounds like it would be the issue.

EDIT: I've watched it now and I agree with the age restrictions. It is with dark (though that probably doesn't warrant age restriction) but the final shot of a
particularly bloodied naked female where you am fully see her chest exposed
is certainly probably something that would be age restricted IMO
