Famous women over 50

I'd love to someday qualify for that list - am over 50 but famous....not so much :)

It seems like for a writer to get famous you need a book to supplement the screen play.

George R.R. Martin, JK Rowling, Anne Rice.
I don't think they would be famous if they had just written screenplays sadly.

Can anyone think of a non-novel, screenplay writer that is a household name like those 3 I listed?
Doesn't count if they direct their movies too like Quentin.

Oh yeah - getting famous as a screenwriter is supremely unlikely.

It reminds me of the old joke (barely a joke) about the ingenue who was so dumb that she tried to get ahead by sleeping with the screenwriter :)

never heard that one.

I doubt the average person even knows who harvey weinstein is so anything other than an actor or director is pretty much limited to fame within the industry itself and not american households. MAYBE hans zimmer is known to the public but I doubt it.
