Editing on Linux

Hello, I am a filmmaker from Bolivia.
Iḿ actually producing a documentary series about the huge musical landscape of my region (every rural comunity -even if its members are 50- has its own musical tradition which is of course totally unknown to the urban areas) -to be sold on dvd in my country, and hopefully Latinamerica, so I'm building myself a comfortable workflow to deal with the immense amount of material.

As a Premiere pro user, I was quite comfortable building OMFs that could be later exported by a different computer (Adobe doesnt allow bolivian users to buy the software, so cracking is the only way and that hinders the workflow a lot). But now that I require speed, that just won't work.

So i've decided to give Linux and open source editing software a try. (I installed Ubuntu Studio 13.10 just yesterday)
But the amount of info and software that I came across is simply overwhelwing.
I wanted to ask if anyone here uses Linux for editing and if so, which softwares do it for synching, basic grading, and exporting.
Thank You
Gilmar
