Account hack.

Hi,
Just had a email saying that someone has tried to get into my account. (They failed)I have there I.P address, but I don't have a clue what to do with it. Any advice on what I should do?
 
My first question is, where did the email saying this come from?
Is it real?

Did the email provide a link for you to click on to secure your account?

If so, did you click that link? If you did not...do NOT do so now...
 
I got one of those, too, recently. I have no idea, but I just suspected that I.T. gives it to you as a courtesy, and in case you want to follow it up by complaining to the user's provider. Does that sound plausible? It did prompt me to change my not-so-strong password to a much stronger password.

I'm sure it's just something that happens on any forum like this. There are bad guys out there. And I suppose some of them spend their time seeing if they can guess someone's password in the five tries allotted. That makes me really appreciate that five tries limit thing.
