Film messenger?

In one of the budget sheet of an indie movie, there were some costs allotted for film messenger. What does film messenger mean?

Thanks.

A film messenger picks up and delivers anything and everything needed by the crew and office manager...things such as office supplies, extra batteries, added equipment, cables, lab deliveries and pickups, outgoing shipments of various sorts, bank runs, etc etc. The messenger is basically a production assistant with the specific duty of pickup and delivery.

This can be the person responsible for getting the film to the lab, when it is shot on film. There was a famous case of an intern leaving film in a cab in NYC years ago... it needs to be trusted to someone higher than intern.
