CAN REALLY INDEPENDENT PRODUCERS SELL CONTENT GLOBALLY?

I frequently meet independent producers from around the world, that have the same problem. They can put together a great team of cameramen, directors and screenwriters. They have great scripts and can create great content. All this is useless however, because their productions are bought by large national TVs that air them on their 30th channel, at 2AM, on a weekday, at best. Large TV stations logically prefer international productions, that are familiar to the viewers and can safely hit large view ratings.

As an independent producer, you now have several options how to promote your content around the world. You can team up with a large, well known distributor, that can connect you to thousands of buyers. The distributor will however take a very generous sales commission. Additionally, since you are an independent producer, you are his priority number 2568 and you will be lucky, if you make it to his content catalogue. In other words, you are doomed to fail, too small to succeed.
