In between features, our group went out and shot a film called Throng, which is almost complete. We held auditions for a movie that doesn't exist, having people audition in crazy circumstances, our guys improving and rolling with the punches while still telling the story of a bunch of disenfranchised filmmakers, while creating a Borat'esque (real people reacting to our crazy antics) look at the world of auditioning. It's the funniest piece I've worked on and can't wait to show everyone the full film in a few weeks. In the meantime, here's two quick looks at Throng!

There are some redeeming moments and likable characters, but yes, for the most part, we portray ourselves as jerks! The Portland film community is fairly dark, it's our way of poking fun at it a bit, plus taking a fun look at the behind the scenes world of filmmaking.

I had tears coming out of my eyes, and at 12:00 I just totally lost it. :lol:

Gonna post this all over, in the morn. I already know half my actor friends will hate it; the others will take a bit of perverse pleasure in it.

Thank you for that! We're really proud of it! We feel like everybody in film would get a big kick out of this (directors, talent, etc), it's just a matter of trying to get it out there for people to see.

And to your friends that may hate it, they should know that it's not all real, we just liked blurring the lines of what's real and what's not! ;)
 
Too funny, just facebooked it to a friend of mine who runs an extras casting agency... he should appreciate the humor in it :)

Funny, well edited and 'acted'. But it's clear you got some of your inspiration from Backroom Casting Couch, and it feels just a little bit too 'cocky'. :hmm:

I've never heard of Backroom Casting Couch actually, and a google search of it only brings up porn sites :) I'm assuming that's not the right one?
 
That was really great. The thing that bugged me was that I recognized the people from Hapstance films, so I immediately assumed that more of it was fake. Still, a solid job!
