Wireless Mics ?

Currently I use wired lapel mics for a weekly taping I do.

I'd like to get a wireless mic setup... budget of $200, roughly.

The recorded audio would still end up in the same camcorder; no fancy DAT decks or anything. It's a simple interior set, and subject(s) are not leaping all over the place... just need that freedom of movement.

Anyone have any recommendations?

You can get lots of wireless kits for less than $200 on ebay, most are new or nearly new. You can even get an Audio Technica, which is a nice quality, but the receivers are kind of bulky. You’ll probably be only able to get one mic/transmitter and one receiver for $200 though. I’m not an audio guy, so someone else here may be able to tell you what to look for spec wise to get the best quality signal. I’d like to know that too, since I’m toying with the idea of buying some too.

Thanks for the links there, film8ker.

I think I'm going to go ahead and get that first one listed there... I saw that on the SaferSeas website earlier this week and was looking at it. Had no idea they sold via Ebay as well.

Here's what it looked like there:

Zensteve, As silly as this may sound, have you checked Radio Shack. I was in their the other day asking about boom mics for my camera that killed background noise.

they told me that they had those and some wireless mics that were just as good. for under 150 bucks.

though radio shack is not usually the place I go for high tech equipment they seemed to be pretty confident about their hardware. they have a good return policy. so you might want to check into it. anything you buy over eBay is usually a problem when it comes to returns.

Yes, I'm not particularly keen on buying from Ebay. If they have a "regular" business at the same time (as SaferSeas does) I'd go through the actual company site.
