I never thought this would happen to me but....
I have been on the road for about 24 days while working on my documentary about homelessness. I'm at about 1,500 miles traveled: Morro Bay, Santa Barbara - saw Tony Hawk in a Bistro at 11am - Bartsow - to write the film - and Portland to film and promote.
I dressed up like a homeless guy with a backpack and a bed roll with an Olympus ECM 1 in my backpack. Got thrown out of every establishment in the city on film, even places I have filmed TV pilots in before. They saw the backpack and bed roll and didn't recognize me.
Then a couple of days ago I was hanging out - looking homeless as hell - outside a bar with an attached strip club/upstairs brothel. I see a beautiful woman sitting by herself. I walk up to her and say, "Why is a gorgeous women like you sitting here by herself?" Then I sit down.
We start talking politics, homelessness, and whatnot. Then, another chick comes and sits down. I get introduced as a "film maker making a film about homelessness." Now they are both talking to me.
We are outside at a table at a bar. Everyone is staring at the homeless guy who just picked up the two best looking women at the bar. A random guy walked past, looked at me, and then at the woman and said, "you are... the man."
Then it turns out they are the strippers from the club. They violate the rules and take me up to the back room of the brothel.
Then they proceeded to alternate between getting paid a lot of money by men for attention to giving their full attention to me in between for nothing. I layed around all night with these crazy gorgeous stripper/hookers watching TV, talking about Freud, watching one of them consume enough pills and alcohol to gag Maralyn Monroe.
Then at 6 am they said, "Hey lets all take a shower!" They both look at me and say, "take your clothes off!" I stood there for a minute... and I was like "whatever" and hopped in the shower. A homeless man has to be clean doesn't he?
I'm sorry but I love being a film maker.

Actually, I committed to 60 days of living on the street while making this film. I am literally homeless as I type this. This isn't a character. I didn't know they were strippers until they invited me upstairs. They knew I was sleeping on concrete. There is a subtle irony to the fact that it took two sex workers - living at the bottom of the barrel of life - to demonstrate the base level of compassion that no one else in Portland was able to.
Stranded in Denver huh... no that guy was a scammer who got mercilessly beat into the ground and rightfully deserved it for being entirely not legitimate

I have another much longer post about the difficulties of making this film and the callousness with which people regard me. http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?t=40467 Feel free to tear me apart, criticize my methods, roll your eyes at my efforts but I just did a film that got the US Army to feed a homeless shelter. It's not a Zombie movie but not everyone can aspire to such lofty goals.
I will say though that people that roll their eyes at my efforts, criticize me, make assumptions about my intentions, and degrade me for trying to make a difference in this world remind me of why I should keep going. I think - if anyone has looked a little deeper here with an understand of who I am - knows that I am not new to the harshest kind of criticism.
Anymore when someone starts digging at me I just laugh. Fans will be fans. Anyone in here that has a solid following and a national career understands exactly what I am talking about. The back of the complaint line starts in Cambodia. If you have something negative to say you better bring a mosquito net because you'll be bobbing and weaving malaria for quite awhile before I get to you.

Dude, you made a thread that basically says "W00t! I got laid!" Pardon me if I think that's a bit juvenile and lame.
But go on, everyone, keep the high fives going. Maybe one day you, too will have sex with someone

I didn't sleep with either one of them. I took a shower with them. I was sharing a funny story from a larger endeavor that has been a personal and emotional nightmare for me. I'm sorry if it bothers you to the point that you are willing to negate my efforts for social reform by rolling your eyes.
I didn't share the part where the one who was on pills delved into a drug induced reverie and said, "This job is eating me alive." I didn't share how much it hurt me to meet these women on a personal level and then witness them selling their bodies. When I walked out of that brothel at 10am the next morning I felt like I had witnessed the murder of two human souls.
You just made a lot of assumptions about me for no reason other than you are offended that I would do such a thing.
At this point I am living on the bottom of life. I am living in a dark hole with no light at the opening. I am trying to do something I have been trying to do for 18 months - something effective. If I stoop to moments of depravity during that process I apologize.

There is nothing in this paragraph that matches your original post. Backtracking now to pretend otherwise just comes across as disingenuous.

How does rolling my eyes at your 'I spent the night with strippers in a brothel (FOR FREE!!)' story negate anything?
Do what you want, you're not bothering me, and it takes more than a guy bragging on a message board to offend me. But don't be surprised when I don't join in on the high-fives you're getting from the others in this thread.
And I'll thank you to not put words in my mouth.

I am sorry but you don't define my reality or the reasons I do the things I do. Please IndieTalk get off my ass for once.

Riiiiiight.
What I really don't understand is why you keep coming back here. You have, on numerous occasions, come here to trash this forum, and yet you still seek the approval of it's members. How desperate for attention can a person be?
Clearly you have much better things to do ( ) Why not just get out of here and go do them.
