I was under the impression that the subway scene was shot guerilla style. I don't really see how you could do a complicated lighting set-up when you're shooting in a 'get in, get out, don't get noticed' sort of situation.

Although, that all could have been a lie for publicity...

Hey there! I'm so glad a thread like this exists!
We recently made a short film with a T2i.

Have a look and see what you think:

He had a few Battery LED lights. My few experiences riding on the subway in NYC, I never saw anyone that resembled "authority". I'm sure there are plenty, but on the right route it should be easy enough to get away with haha.

Even more remarkable, Black Swan DP Matthew Libatique shot the sequence with few assisted lights, illegally on the New York City subway, and at an ISO of 3200 and an F-stop of 8.

Y'know, it's pretty insane what the big boys can do in post. I mean, I'm sure it's still not easy, fast, or cheap. But still.

I watched a little BTS for Black Swan. In those dance studio shots with all the mirrors they literally edited out the reflections of the entire crew. Totally seamlessly. It was incredible.

T3i:

Nothing serious really but they were all shot with the T3i.

BTW, this is a great idea!

T3i footage and my first time trying out the Super Takumar 50mm 1.4:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRPj1ulC4j4

Pretty much went from conception to completion in a day, so the story ain't there. But for what it's worth, the only light source was the sun and it didn't always look sucky!

Although that's a very dick-ish thing to say, the link you provided is a good one. That guy is a master of color-correction, and I think that's another super important thing that overshadows the importance of the camera. We should have more discussions on coloring.

I'm sorry but since I really have a slow Internet connexion these times, I just felt kind of upset when I watched some of those videos after waiting too much time for them to load. I

But in truth I just misunderstood the purpose of this topic. It aims to show the variety of things one can do with the tool. Not any quality criteria there.

Anyway, glad you liked David's work, he really is a mastro. And what he's doing with the hacked GH2 + Da Vinci Resolve is just ridiculously beautiful. What I liked most is that I saw earlier on this forum a video of Stu Maschwitz explaining the importance of opposing orange and blue in your color correction. And this is exactly what David is doing.

Thanks dude, it was my first go at a full on score, took me around three days to complete. It's pretty fulfilling to do the score to your own film!

Because people think their 2% genetic difference from chimpanzees makes them demi-gods, when in fact they are not much better than an angry, frustrated chimpanzee attacking what it doesn't understand.
This applies to all aspects of their monkey-brained lives.

Wow. A lot of haters and picky people on the petapixel site. (try saying that three times fast). Think I'll avoid that one.
