As the clock is now starting on phase 1 funding and personnel integration, I'll be posting small updates now and then showing a window into some of our production process.
This video shows a bit of my work, specifically on creating the complex geometry needed for dynamic set extensions to be used with compositing and programmable motion control. It's just a very basic demo, of just the tertiary background layer.
In simpler terms, this kind of animation will partially replace what used to be "Matte Paintings", and can also be used to fly the camera into microscopic areas, or provide the skin of an alien animal.
