I'm looking to burn some DVD's so i can send my project out to a few film festivals. I go FCP>Compressor>DVD studio pro. One of the festivals is asking if my format is dvd-ntsc r01 or dvd-ntsc r12? What is the difference? What format should I burn these DVD's in?

I'd burn it without a region encoded (I think you set it at zero), unless you're worried about piracy.

Not that the whole region concept is the least bit effective in combating video piracy. All it does is create headaches for legitimate users. [end of soapbox]

There are only 8 DVD regions though.... I wonder what 12 is?

Region 0 means region free, and sometimes the not defined Region 9 is too.
